Waldorf, MD โ€“ A frightening moment occurred in a Waldorf shopping center Monday afternoon, Jan. 12 when an out-of-control pickup truck crashed into a storefront, stopping inches short of a cashier counter, police reported.

According to Charles County Sheriffโ€™s Office spokeswoman Diane Richardson, the incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. at Waldorf Marketplace. A 50-year-old Bryantown man, who was driving a GMC Sierra pickup apparently experienced a โ€œmedical event,โ€ and lost control of the vehicle. The truck crashed into a tree, hit two other vehicles and then traveled completely inside The Game Stop Shop, finally coming to rest inside the store.

Richardson reported several employees were in the store at the time but amazingly, no one was injured.

The pickup truck driver was transported to an area hospital as a precaution, Richardson said.

Investigation of the incident is continuing.
