ย Charles County Sheriffโ€™s officers responded to a residence in the 3000 block of South Hampton Drive in Bryans Road for the report of an attempted burglary at 11 a.m. March 11.

ย Upon arrival, Officers Benthin and Forbes saw two suspects running from the residence. The officers chased the suspects to Hampton Court, where witnesses reported seeing them enter a residence.

ย After a search, officers found the suspects hiding in the attic of an adjacent attached residence, which the suspects accessed by forcing their way through a firewall. The suspects were arrested and identified as Winston Joseph Maxwell, 24, and a 17-year-old boy, both of Bryans Road.

ย Further investigation revealed the accused had attempted to force entry into the South Hampton Drive residence through a rear sliding glass door but were unsuccessful.

ย They were charged with first-, third- and fourth-degree burglary, destruction of property valued at less than $500, destruction of property valued at more than $500 and resisting arrest.

ย Maxwell was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before a district court commissioner and the juvenile was held at the Cheltenham Youth Facility.

ย Charges are pending against them in other burglary investigations.
