Two Carloads Caught by Troopers Raiding Potato Chips

At 2:06 a.m. July 28, Trooper A. Ford was on routine patrol traveling on northbound U.S. Route 301, just south of VFW Road, Waldorf, when he observed a suspicious minivan.

From Route 301, Trooper Ford observed the occupants of the vehicle grabbing numerous bags of potato chips and soft drinks and throwing them inside the vehicle. He observed occupants in a second vehicle committing the same acts.

Trooper Ford pulled into the establishment with emergency equipment on to stop both vehicles. Both vehicles went in reverse and onto Route 301 were they continued northbound.

The Mazda van pulled over on Route 301 in the deceleration lane just south of VFW Road. The second vehicle continued north on Route 301 at a high rate of speed.

When troopers Ford and Wilson, approached the vehicle, they observed several potato chip bags dispersed throughout the vehicle as well as several soft drinks.  Listed below are the names, age, residence and charges:

Steven German Brito, 18 of Riverdale, charged with did steal 22 bags of chips and 9 soft drinks from the owner.
Michael Eric Walker, 18 of Lanham, charged with did steal 22 bags of chips and 9 soft drinks from the owner.
Kihana Markita Manuel, 19 of Hyattsville, charged with did steal 22 bags of chips and 9 soft drinks from the owner.
Elizabeth Lesslie Penn, 21 of Beltsville, charged with did steal 22 bags of chips and 9 soft drinks from the owner; did up arrest, knowingly and with the intent to deceive, make a false statement to a peace officer concerning identity and date of birth.
Gaetane Saihnt-Louis, 23 of Beltsville, charged with did steal 22 bags of chips and 9 soft drinks from the owner; did up arrest, knowingly and with the intent to deceive, make a false statement to a peace officer concerning identity and date of birth.
Ervie Merlande Penn, 24 of Beltsville, charged with did steal 22 bags of chips and 9 soft drinks from the owner; did up arrest, knowingly and with the intent to deceive, make a false statement to a peace officer concerning identity and date of birth.
Dominique Sarde Graham, 21 of  Riverdale, charged with did steal 22 bags of chips and 9 soft drinks from the owner; did up arrest, knowingly and with the intent to deceive, make a false statement to a peace officer concerning identity and date of birth.
