HARWOOD, Md. — Anne Arundel County police are continuing to investigate a double homicide discovered last week inside a home in Harwood, where two residents were found shot to death during a welfare check.
Officers were called around 1:40 p.m. Jan. 22, 2026, to a residence in the 100 block of Harwood Road after someone familiar with the occupants became concerned when they had not been seen or heard from for several days. When officers entered the home, they found a woman deceased on the main level and a man deceased on a lower level, both with apparent gunshot wounds.
The victims were later identified as 78-year-old Sharon Ann Waldow and 62-year-old Mark Edward Waldow, police said.
Detectives with the Anne Arundel County Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division Homicide Unit responded to the scene and assumed control of the investigation. Evidence technicians processed the residence, where authorities confirmed a firearm was located.
Police said the incident appears to be domestic-related and emphasized there is no threat to the community. The shooting was confined to the interior of the home, which is located in a small, unincorporated community south of Annapolis and near a local school.
The bodies were transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for autopsies. Investigators have not released additional details about the circumstances leading up to the deaths.
The investigation remains open and ongoing.
