LEONARDTOWN, Md. — The St. Mary’s County Arts Council is bringing back its signature fundraiser with a tropical twist as “Uncorked & Unveiled: Island Edition” returns Thursday, May 21, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Port of Leonardtown Winery.

Following the success of last year’s inaugural wine-label fundraiser, organizers said they wanted to elevate the experience. “Following the success of our first wine-label partnered fundraiser with Port of Leonardtown Winery, Uncorked & Unveiled, we knew we wanted to do it again, but this time, make more of a splash!” organizers shared.

“Island themed parties are fun, engaging, and allow us to think creatively with our planning. From an island-decorated setting, to our island-style music provided by DJ Nani, to our hibiscus themed craft — the only question attendees will have is to lei, or not to lei.”

The event, which includes food, wine, art activities, and a silent auction, serves as a key fundraiser supporting local arts initiatives. Proceeds will help expand the Arts Council’s reach across the county.

“SMCAC will use funds raised to increase our general capacity, including adding more money to our grants budget, and also potentially raising money for our new goal: a mobile art outreach vehicle, which will enable us to bring arts programs to every corner of the county and even beyond!” organizers said.

Guests can expect a lively evening filled with entertainment and community engagement. “Our guests will enjoy live DJ music island-style by DJ Nani of Mahalo Entertainment, a silent auction, caricature drawings by Cadillac Cartoonz, chances to win a cash prize with the 50/50 raffle, delicious food catered by The Front Porch, wine from the Port of Leonardtown Winery, and more! It is promised to be a great party for a very good cause.”

A highlight of the evening will be the unveiling of this year’s winning wine label design. Organizers noted the contest drew dozens of creative submissions from across St. Mary’s County and beyond.

After narrowing the field to three finalists, the community selected this year’s winner: Cynthia Martin-Brennan. Her piece, “Off-Dry White,” “plays on the characteristic of the wine itself, making it the perfect complement to the new wine’s exterior.”

Tickets are $100 and include access to all event activities, with a portion of proceeds supporting arts programming, scholarships, and grants throughout the community, and can be purchased through the website.
