Shortly after 5:30 a.m. July 4, a homeowner in Medleyโ€™s Neck Road called 911 and reported two armed black men entered his home for a robbery and shots were fired in the process.

Rick Burris, Commander of the St. Mary’s Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI), released the following information on July 5.

On July 4th at approximately 5:30 am two suspects entered a residence on Medleyโ€™s Neck Road in Leonardtown through an unsecured door.

Once inside the suspects kicked several bedroom doors in and pointed a handgun at the occupants of the rooms demanding the whereabouts ofย  a 25-year-old male.

Upon locating the male, the suspects demanded marijuana and money from him. A struggle ensued and a shot was fired.

The male victim gave the suspects approximately $300 in marijuana and they fled the residence.

St. Maryโ€™s County BCI assumed the investigation and the following persons were arrested and charged at approximately 2pm on July 4th.

Trey D. Barnes, 20 with no fixed address, and Derrick R. Medley 22 of Great Mills Maryland.
Both were charged with 4 counts of 1st Degree Assault, 4 counts of 1st Degree Burglary, Armed Robbery, Malicious Destruction of Property and Barnes was also charged with Reckless Endangerment for firing the gun.

Barnes and Medley are currently incarcerated at the St. Maryโ€™s County Detention Center.
