The search on the Wicomico River in the Mill Point Shores area of Mechanicsville, for a missing 11 year old girl resumed Saturday morning, at 7:30 a.m. and is now being led by the US Coast Guard. The search was halted at 7:30 p.m. last night after it became too dark to continue. Numerous law enforcement agencies and assets are assisting with the search.

Press Release from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office: At approximately 2:05 PM, SMCSO deputies and officers from the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Police responded to the report of a missing 11 year old, black female. She was last seen in the water of the Wicomico River. DNR is leading search efforts to locate her. Deputies from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office, Troopers from the Maryland State Police, Fire Department and Rescue Squad personnel are on the scene assisting as well.
