On Jan. 5, Charles County Sheriffโs officers charged Gary OโNeil Palmer, Jr., 16 of Waldorf, with assault with intent to murder, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, resisting arrest and carrying a deadly weapon on school property.
Palmer was charged as an adult in connection with the stabbing that occurred at McDonough High School yesterday afternoon. He was remanded to the Charles County Detention Center with no bond. The investigation is continuing.
Police in Charles County are investigating a stabbing at a local high school. A female student was stabbed by a male student this afternoon at Maurice J. McDonough Highย School in Pomfret. School officials say the incidentย happened shortly before noon.
Schools spokesperson Katie O’Malley-Simpson tells TBN that following a lunch period, the male student stabbed a female student with a knife in the hallway of the school.
The victim, aย senior at the school,ย was flown to an area hospital. The initial word from the hospital was that her injury was serious, but not life-threatening. The stabbing suspect, a sophomore male from McDonough, was transported to Civista Medical Center for injuries he caused to himself. A third student, who intervened, also suffered some minor injuries.
A school resource officer was at the school and responded to the scene quickly. School officials say the motive is not known. The stabbing suspect has been arrested and is in police custody.
