GREAT MILLS, Md. — Two adults were displaced and a firefighter was injured Sunday morning after a wind-driven house fire tore through a home on Chancellors Run Road.
Around 11:07 a.m. Nov. 16, 2025, fire and EMS crews were dispatched to the 21000 block of Chancellors Run Road for a reported house fire with flames visible. The two adult occupants had already escaped the two-story, single-family home before first responders arrived.
Chief 6, Windsor, who was in the area, was first on scene and found the home heavily involved, with fire showing on both floors and the exterior. Because of advanced fire conditions and strong winds pushing the flames, he immediately ordered a defensive operation and requested a working incident task force, bringing additional engines, trucks and EMS units to the scene.
Rescue Engine 92 initiated exterior suppression as more units arrived from Bay District Volunteer Fire Department, NAS Patuxent River, Hollywood, Second District and Leonardtown fire departments. Multiple hand lines were deployed as crews worked to stop the flames that had spread into the attic and roof structure.

Chief 7A, Brady, arrived shortly after and took command of the incident. Despite gusty conditions that intensified fire spread, firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control in under an hour, officials said.
Units remained on scene for more than four hours conducting overhaul, extinguishing hot spots and monitoring structural stability.
One firefighter suffered an ankle injury during the response and was evaluated by EMS on scene. The firefighter declined transport.
The two residents were not hurt but displaced by the incident. The American Red Cross responded to assist them with temporary housing and other emergency needs. Additional details on community support efforts are expected to be released as they are finalized.
The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal is investigating the origin and cause of the fire.
