UPDATE DEC. 26:ย Winter Storm Warning to take effect 2 a.m. Dec. 26
The National Weather Service has declared a Winter Storm Warning forย Southern Marylandย toย take effect at 2 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 26 which will stay in effect until 2 a.m. Monday, Dec. 27.ย
Southern Maryland ย can expect between 6 and 10 inches of snowfall. The heaviest snowfall will occur during daylightย hours on Sunday. A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow are expected or areย occurring. Strong winds are also possible and citizens are urged to stay off roadways when possible because travel may be hazardous and visibility may be limited. Citizens are advised to monitor forecasts.
Temperatures are expected to be in the low to upper 20s late tonight. High temperatures areย expected to be in the lower 30s Sunday and Monday. Low temperatures are expected to be in the lowerย to mid 20s Sunday night. Winds are expected to be 10-15 mph late tonight and Sunday morning,ย increasing to 15-25 mph late Sunday afternoon.
The National Weather Service has declared a Winter Storm Watch for St. Maryโs County. Theย declaration is in effect from late tonight through late Sunday night. The declaration may be upgraded toย a Winter Storm Warning later tonight or tomorrow. A winter storm watch means there is a potential forย significant snow accumulations that may impact travel. Citizens are advised to monitor forecasts.
