Update: According to sources on the scene, the occupant of the vehicle has sustained burns on 30% of their body. An additional subject, an employee of Bed, Bath, and Beyond was transported to a local hospital for minor injuries.
Our reporter on the scene spoke to a witness and employee of Wildewood Wine and Spirits, Sean Haskins. Haskins describes what he saw as he exited Hollywood Wine and Spirits. “When I came out, a bunch of employees from Bed, Bath, and Beyond and bystanders from the parking lot, were around the vehicle, and they pulled him out of the front seat and it looked like he was unconscious.” Haskins went on to say that is when the car really became ignited with flames. Haskins reported that he was inside the liquor store, when “some kind of explosion rocked the building for us to come outside, to take a look and see what was going on.” Several other witnesses also reported feeling and hearing an explosion, and then just seeing smoke and flames.
The fire marshal is currently on scene, and Bed, Bath, and Beyond’s parking lot is currently restricted as investigators work to establish a cause of the fire. The store itself is not closed. We will continue to update you as details become available.
