A Waldorf couple amped their New Year’s Eve celebration into high gear after the husband discovered he’d won $50,000 on a Maryland Lottery Fabulous 5s Doubler scratch-off.
Their evening got off to a great start after the husband decided to run an errand in preparation for their celebration in Washington, D.C. He stopped at 925 Liquors located at 2795 Old Washington Road in Waldorf. Before picking out the items he needed, the 45-year-old bought just one Fabulous 5s Doubler ticket and sat down in the store to scratch the game. The very last number on the $5 ticket was a “5” and underneath he revealed the prize of $50,000.
“I was so shocked and nervous that I forgot why I even came into the store,” the man said.
He immediately left the Lottery retailer and went home to share the great news with his wife. The happy couple enjoyed a New Year’s Eve celebration that continued well into 2015! The husband, who is a professional tailor and also owns a landscaping business, said he will pay bills with the prize and use some of the winnings toward two trips already planned for 2015.
For selling the top-prize ticket, 925 Liquors will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery. There are still three top prizes awaiting discovery in Maryland stores.
