WALDORF, Md. — A Waldorf man is facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges after an argument escalated into a shooting outside a liquor store, according to court documents.
Jessie Eugene Moon, 60, of Waldorf, was arrested April 11, 2026, following a reported shots-fired incident at a shopping center on Smallwood Drive.
Officers were dispatched to the area after reports that two individuals had pulled firearms and pointed them at each other outside a liquor store. Surveillance footage later reviewed by investigators showed one man firing a round before fleeing the scene.
According to charging documents, officers canvassed the area and located Moon nearby. Investigators allege Moon was seen on video holding a handgun and firing a shot during the altercation. A 9mm shell casing was recovered at the scene.
During the investigation, Moon initially denied possessing a firearm before later admitting he had fired a shot into the air following a dispute with another individual. Authorities also determined Moon was prohibited from possessing firearms.
No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
Moon has been charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault, use of a firearm in a violent crime, reckless endangerment, and handgun-related offenses.
He is currently being held without bond following a bail review hearing before Judge Patrick J. Devine.
A preliminary hearing is set for May 12, 2026, in Charles County District Court.
