PASADENA, Md. — A Tactical Response Unit team with the Anne Arundel County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Pasadena man wanted on a probation violation Tuesday after he briefly barricaded himself inside a home.
Deputies with the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Apprehension Team 1 went to the 1600 block of Twickenham Road around noon Oct. 28, 2025 to serve an open violation-of-probation warrant on Joseph Michael Scardina, 37.
When deputies made contact, Scardina opened the door, retreated and locked himself inside. After unsuccessful attempts to communicate, deputies breached the door and took him into custody without further incident.
Court records show Scardina pleaded guilty Sept. 20, 2024, to a misdemeanor count of threatening a state official, related to threats made toward his probation officer and Anne Arundel County judges. He received a three-year sentence with all but 58 days suspended and two years of supervised probation.
Since the conviction, the case has seen multiple hearings, postponements and status reviews across Glen Burnie and Annapolis district courtrooms. A violation finding was entered Sept. 8, 2025, with probation continued.
A bench warrant was issued on Oct. 28, 2025. Scardina is being held without bail at the Jennifer Road Detention Center. A bail/bond review hearing is scheduled for Nov. 4 at 1:30 p.m. in Glen Burnie District Court.
