UPDATE
The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office, Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department and Leonardtown Volunteer Fire Department assisted two citizens on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at the Craft Guild Shop off Route 5 in Leonardtown.
Two women, Peg Gowen of Leonardtown and July Dillon of Hollywood were moving merchandise at the craft coop’s store out of the way of rising waters when floodwaters rose up behind them and inundated the parking lot.
A good Samaritan called emergency services to assist them and the women were safely escorted out of the parking lot.

Both occupants have been rescued and are uninjured, units are returning to service.
LEONARDTOWN, Md. – July 24, at 2:12 p.m., crews responded to the parking lot of the Maryland Antique Center, Leonardtown for an inland water rescue. Reports say that two occupants are trapped in the building and unable to leave due to flooding conditions. Use caution in the area.
