
AVENUE, Md. — A driver was airlifted to a regional trauma center Monday, March 3, 2025, after a single-vehicle crash left her trapped inside an overturned Jeep.
The crash occurred around 6:17 p.m. along Oakley Road near Cobrums Wharf Road, prompting fire and rescue crews to respond. Upon arrival, crews found the vehicle overturned off the roadway. Firefighters worked to stabilize the vehicle, remove the roof and extricate the driver.

Once freed, emergency medical personnel assessed the woman’s condition and determined she required immediate air transport. Maryland State Police Trooper 7 helicopter was dispatched to Dynard Elementary School, where firefighters had established a landing zone. The patient was then flown to UM Capital Region Medical Center for treatment.
Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. Oakley Road and Cobrums Wharf Road remained closed while crews worked to clear the scene.
