Shannon Johanna Dement

St. Inigoes, MD— On Jan.16 St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Officeย Deputy J. Lacey Johnson responded to the 17000 block of Jutland Drive in St. Inigoes, for the report of a domestic disturbance.

The victim alleged the suspect, Shannon Johanna Dement, 34, of Saint Inigoes, struck the victim in the face, and she bit the victim on the nose during an argument.

“Once I got onto the walkway leading to the front door I (Lacey) saw the front door standing open. I observed the defendant holding the victim down and not allowing him to get up,” Johnson stated in charging documents.ย 

According to charging documents, “The victim’s nose was bleeding from the top of it and he had a black eye. The victim advised the two got into an argument due to her alcohol consumption.”ย 

The victim displayed injuries consistent with the allegations.

“The victim advised the defendant then bit him on the top of the nose causing him to bleed. The victim also informed the defendant held him down on the bathroom floor and would not let him get up until my arrival,” the deputy stated.ย 

Dement was arrested and transported to the St. Maryโ€™s County Detention Center. She was charged with second-degree assault.ย 

Dement at this time does not have a court date scheduled. Dement faces a maximum jail sentence of ten years and or a maximum fine of $2,500.ย
