ODENTON, Md. — A woman was fatally shot by her estranged husband on the morning of June 16, 2025, outside the Smith Bus Service in Odenton, prompting a multistate investigation that ended with the suspect’s suicide in New Jersey.
Anne Arundel County police responded to the 1800 block of Bucklina Avenue at approximately 10:13 a.m., where they found 45-year-old Monyette Marie Stephenson suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency personnel pronounced her dead at the scene.
Detectives reviewed surveillance footage from the location and identified the suspect as Trimall Stephenson, 48, an employee at the bus company and the estranged husband of the victim. Authorities said the two were from Middle River.
Stephenson fled the state but was later located at a rest stop in Hamilton, New Jersey. As New Jersey State Police troopers approached his vehicle, he turned a firearm on himself and died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Anne Arundel County homicide detectives are coordinating with New Jersey authorities as the investigation continues.
