On August 25, Sgt. Tim Fridman of the Calvert Investigative Team traveled to the Stateโs Attorneyโs Office and met with Angelena Ronnetta Claggett, 38 of Prince Frederick, to follow up with a violation of a protective order.
Claggett stated to Fridman that she had gone to the District Court on August 24 to observe a court case her ex-boyfriend, Kerwin Louis McClam, 38 of Lothian, against whom she had the protective order, was involved in.ย Claggett further advised that after the hearing, McClam and his brother had followed her in their vehicle, blocked her vehicle in a nearby parking lot, and verbally threatened her.ย She reported that there were two women sitting on a porch nearby that witnessed the incident.ย Claggett said she then went to the State Police Barrack in Prince Frederick and reported the violation.ย An arrest warrant was subsequently issued for and served on McClam. He was held without bond for violation of a protective order.
Sgt. Fridman determined that Claggettโs statements were false by reviewing security video from the District Court Building and also reviewing video taken by McClamโs brother while leaving the courthouse.ย Det. Fridman also interviewed the two witnesses who stated they did not recall seeing the womanโs vehicle and remembered nothing out of the ordinary about that day. Sgt. Fridman applied for charges against Claggett of false statement to a police officer.
Claggett turned herself in to the Maryland State Police on August 27 and was transferred to the Calvert County Sheriffโs Office where she was served with the arrest warrant.
