SOLOMONS, Md. – An unidentified woman was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries after jumping from the Thomas Johnson Bridge during the early hours of Sunday, Jan. 20.

Between the times of 2:00 and 3:30 a.m., First Responders pulled a woman from the Patuxent River after falling 80 feet from the bridge, police say.

She was located floating in the water and had a pulse, according to Calvert County authorities.

This incident follows another bridge jumping that occured the day before. On Saturday, Jan. 19, a man was taken to a trauma center after falling from the bridge and hitting the pavement. Authorities say he sustained injuries from the fall. Police do not believe these incidents were related.

Units from the St. Mary’s and Calvert County Volunteer Fire Departments responded to this incident.
