A Lexington Park woman was sentenced to six years in jail on August 8. Michelle Anderson, 37, was sentenced to five years in jail after pleading guilty to possession with intention to distribute controlled Dangerous substances (CDS) and a consecutive one year in jail for Driving While Suspended. St. Maryโs County Circuit Court Judge Michael Stamm imposed the consecutive sentences.
Anderson was charged last year with five counts, including the possession with intent to distribute CDS, which was alleged to have been Codeine. On June 1 she pled guilty to that change and not guilty to the other four charges. Those other four were dropped (nolle prossed) by the state.
Anderson was represented at sentencing by Public Defender John Getz.
The day after her sentencing, the St. Maryโs County Sheriffโs Office reported that Anderson had been indicted for possession of cocaine with intent to distribute. It is not known whether the state will continue to pursue those charges now that Anderson has been incarcerated. ย The stateโs attorneyโs office has not responded to a request from the Bay Net for comment.
