Hollywood, MD— On July 16, St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Kerns responded to Three Notch Road in Hollywood for a reported domestic dispute. The alleged incident was reported by a an unidentified person who told police they heard a male neighbor “saying, ‘get off of me,” according to charging documents.
When Kerns arrived on the scene he observed a male and female standing inside the apartment in a heated verbal argument. The female was identified as Becky L. Gould, 35 of Hollywood.
Gould was holding the pair’s two-year-old child in common during the argument when Kerns arrived and she was attempting to leave the scene. The investigation revealed that the two were involved in arguments over Gould, “wanting money for pills,” according to charging documents.
The male advised that when he would not let Gould leave due to her history of drug abuse she began to assault him by striking him repeatedly in the head. At one point she allegedly struck him with a frying pan.
The male advised that when he went into the bathroom in an attempt to get away from Gould she broke the door, which has wooden slats on it, grabbed one of the slats and struck the male with the slat.
The victim had injuries consistent with the statements given. He also advised, “Gould attempted to tase him, however, was unsuccessful,” Kerns stated in the charging documents.
The victim also advised Gould was holding their two-year-old child during the assault and refused to let the child go.
Gould was arrested and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center, where she was charged with second-degree assault.
Gould has a hearing scheduled for Sept. 1 in District Court. Gould faces a maximum jail sentence of 10 years and/or a maximum fine of $2,500.
