On August 9, St. Maryโs County Emergency Communicationโs Center broadcast a lookout for an older model, blue, Ford Mustang and its occupants.ย It was reported that the occupants of the Mustang had just committed a theft of money.ย
Deputy Thompson observed and stopped the suspect vehicle.ย Gabriel Xavier Cassagnol, 50 of Saint Inigoes, was the operator of the vehicle and Robin Ann Laabs, 39 of Lexington Park,ย was the passenger.ย Cassagnol and Laabs matched the description of the suspects involved in the theft.ย Deputy Thompson had Cassagnol exit the vehicle.ย
For the officer’s safety, Deputy Thompson conducted a frisk of Cassagnolโs person.ย As a result of the frisk, Deputy Thompson located a glass smoking device containing suspected crack cocaine residue.ย Deputy Thompson arrested Cassagnol for possession of controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia and as Deputy Thompson was handcuffing Cassagnol he noticed Cassagnol was holding cash in his hand.ย
Deputy Thompson asked Cassagnol to open his hand.ย Cassagnol refused and clinched his hand.ย Cassagnol then attempted to pull away from the deputy.ย After a brief struggle Cassagnol was subdued.ย Cassagnol was charged with possession of controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, suspected crack cocaine and resisting arrest.ย
Laabs was charged on a Criminal Summons with theft less then $100.00.
On Aug.ย 9 just after midnight, St. Mary’s County deputies responded to theย 46000 block of Chapman Drive for the report of a theft.
Investigation revealed Robin Laabs, 39, reportedly stole $70 from an acquaintance and stated she used the money to buy crack cocaine.
Laabs was issued a citation for theft. Also present at the scene of the theft was Gabriel Cassagnol, 50 of St. Inigoes. He was arrested for resisting arrest and possession of CDS.
