Amanda L. Mangum

Mechanicsville, MD— On August 9, Sgt. Yingling of the St.Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded to Lindsey Way in Mechanicsville in reference to a possible assault/disturbance.

When Yingling arrived at the scene contact was made with the complainant, who advised the defendant began arguing over property in the basement.

A witness advised the defendant was, “out of control and attacked the victim over him allegedly stealing her property,” according to charging documents.

The defendant was identified as Amanda L. Mangum, 31 of Mechanicsville. The witness also advised that Mangum punched the victim in the face and scratched his neck, at which time the witness came to assist and get the out-of-control Mangum off the victim.

The victim advised he was assaulted by “his sister,” who was in the process of moving items from the residence. “For no reason she became crazy and went into the basement of their residence screaming at him over property,” according to charging documents.

Yingling made contact with Mangum who advised she had lived at the residence for several months but is in the process of moving her belongings to another location. Mangum advised, “the victim and witnesses are ganging up on her, and stated she was not the aggressor,” charging documents stated.

Mangum was arrested and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center, where she was charged with second-degree assault.

At this time Mangum does not have a scheduled court appearance. Mangum faces a maximum jail sentence of 10 years and/or a maximum fine of $2,500.
