Ginny Ann Bagley
Leonardtown, MD – On Feb.12, St.Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Cpl. J. Yingling made contact with a loss prevention representative at the Autozone store located at Merchants Lane in Leonardtown for an unusual amount of battery refunds conducted by their employee the defendant.
When the store contacted customers regarding their returns of the batteries, the customers advised they never returned any batteries. According to charging documents, “a further check of the store stock indicated the batteries the defendant claimed were returned were, in fact, missing from the store stock.”
The defendant was identified as Ginny Ann Bagley, 23 of Leonardtown. “The defendant during the time frame of Dec.12, 2015- Feb.13, 2016 conducted 10 fraudulent battery refunds which resulted in a $1,400 loss to the victim (Autozone),” according to charging documents.
When confronted, Bagley admitted to making the fraudulent transactions to pay back the money she owed another individual.
According to charging documents, “the defendant would access the store database and look up customers who purchased batteries, she (Bagley) would then produce fake return receipts and keep the money from the battery return.”
Bagley was charged with theft scheme $1,000 to under $10,000. Bagley at this time does not have a scheduled court date. Bagley faces a maximum jail time of 10 years and/or a maximum fine of $10,000.
