MECHANICSVILLE, Md. — More than two weeks after thieves stole two young racers’ dirt bikes from Budds Creek Motocross Park, the Southern Maryland motocross community continues to rally around the families. Thanks to an outpouring of support, one young rider is back on the track with a new motorcycle, while fundraising and a growing reward fund continue to help the second rider replace his stolen bike.
Late Saturday, June 27, after racing had concluded and families had settled into campers and trailers for the night, someone entered Budds Creek Motocross Park and stole dirt bikes belonging to Cameron and another young rider, Rylan. Organizers said the thief or thieves may have entered through an open side gate or a trail behind the property, although exactly how they gained access remains under investigation.
Cameron’s 2022 Kawasaki KX112 and Rylan’s 2026 Yamaha YZ85 were taken in the theft.
As news of the theft spread, racers, businesses and supporters from across the Mid-Atlantic quickly came together, donating through GoFundMe campaigns and other fundraising efforts to help both young riders get back on the track.
Thanks to those donations, Cameron was able to replace his stolen motorcycle. On Friday, July 3, he received a brand-new dirt bike during a gathering at Morton’s Motorcycles, where members of the motocross community came together to celebrate the effort and everyone who helped make it possible.

Budds Creek Motocross Park credited the effort to support from Morton’s Motorcycles, the Mid-Atlantic Motocross Association (MAMA), ESE Powersports & Performance, The Rigging Box, Seddon Motorsports, RNB Racing, Round Hill Farm, Limited Decal, Elevated Industries LLC, Mini Moto Nation, Black Helmet Mafia, DJ and Penny Johnson, along with everyone who contributed through the GoFundMe campaign.
“The whole motocross community came together to get Cameron a brand-new motorcycle,” Budds Creek Motocross Park wrote in announcing the milestone. “It just shows the strength of the motocross family.”
While the community is celebrating Cameron’s return to racing, supporters say the effort is far from over. Fundraising continues to help replace Rylan’s stolen motorcycle, and organizers are urging anyone with information about the thefts to come forward as the investigation continues.

During a Facebook Live update on Tuesday, June 30, Budds Creek Motocross Park owner Jay Ezra Beasley announced an initial $3,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible. Additional donations from members of the motocross community later increased the reward to $4,000.
The reward now totals $4,000, including contributions from Budds Creek Motocross Park, RNB Racing, Mini Moto Nation, The Rigging Box and the Budds Creek flagger team.
During the livestream, Beasley said staff learned of the thefts early Sunday morning, June 28, and immediately contacted law enforcement. He said the incident marked only the second motorcycle theft at Budds Creek Motocross Park in the past decade. Beasley also said organizers believe the thefts were crimes of opportunity involving motorcycles left unlocked near the property’s road frontage. He encouraged racers to secure their bikes while attending events and noted the facility has invested in additional fencing and other security improvements in recent years.
Anyone with information about the thefts is encouraged to contact local law enforcement.
Help Rylan Get Back On The Track
While Cameron has already received a new motorcycle thanks to the generosity of the motocross community, supporters are now hoping to create the same happy ending for Rylan, whose uninsured 2026 Yamaha YZ85 was also stolen during the theft at Budds Creek Motocross Park.
According to the family’s GoFundMe campaign, donations will help replace Rylan’s motorcycle and get the young racer back to doing what he loves. Those wishing to contribute can search “Rally for Rylan: Replace His Stolen Dirt Bike” on GoFundMe.
