The first Calvert County fair was held in 1886 on the farm of Dr. Talbott in Smithville, what is now Dunkirk.ย  The first fair was primarily for horse racing, showing cattle and tobacco and providing men with a chance to visit one another. A lot has changed sine the 1886 event. There are loads of fun activities, sights and sounds throughout the weekend for everyone to enjoy.

On Wednesday, Sept. 30, the 123rd Calvert Fair begins when gates open at 4 p.m. and the opening ceremony is held at 4:45 p.m.
