WALDORF, Md. — A Waldorf man was arrested after allegedly stealing merchandise from a Target store and attempting to flee on foot, according to court documents.

Adam McKinley Washington, 32, of Waldorf, was taken into custody April 7, 2026, following a reported shoplifting incident at the Target located on Western Parkway.

According to charging documents, loss prevention officers observed Washington concealing items in his pockets and backpack before passing all points of sale without paying. When confronted outside the store, he fled on foot but was quickly located by responding deputies in the parking lot area.

Authorities reported that Washington initially provided a false name to officers before later being identified through his driver’s license.

Investigators recovered the stolen merchandise, which was valued at approximately $43.87.

Washington was transported to the Charles County Detention Center and charged with theft under $100.

He was later released on his own recognizance following a bail review hearing before Judge Robert B. Riddle.

A trial scheduling hearing is set for May 22, 2026, in Charles County District Court.
