LA PLATA, Md. — A 15-year-old suffered an accidental gunshot wound Tuesday night in La Plata, resulting in serious injuries.
The incident was reported at approximately 11:04 p.m. on April 14, 2026, in the 300 block of Jinnie Run Drive. A 911 caller reported their teen son had sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the leg.
Emergency responders arrived to find the patient alert, with injuries described as through-and-through.
EMS transported the patient to UM Capital Regional Medical Center.
Authorities indicated the injury was self-inflicted. No other injuries were reported.
The incident remains under investigation.
