LA PLATA, Md. — More than 65 employers, hundreds of job seekers and workforce organizations from across the region are expected to gather in La Plata next week as the Tri-County Council for Southern Maryland hosts its 15th Annual Southern Maryland Hiring Event.
The free event returns Thursday, May 21, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the College of Southern Maryland’s La Plata Campus, offering opportunities for residents searching for new careers, better pay, government contracting work, healthcare positions and more
Healthcare providers, construction companies, law enforcement agencies, government contractors, retailers and financial firms are among those expected on the floor. More than 20 community resource partners will also be on-site to help connect attendees with workforce support, veteran services and financial assistance.
“This event is more than just a job fair — it’s a high-impact opportunity to strengthen local economies, address workforce gaps, and showcase the incredible talent pipeline throughout Southern Maryland,” said Ruthy Davis, director of regional workforce and business development at TCCSMD.
Organizers say more than 600 people had signed up within just the second week of registration — a sign this year’s event could be the most attended in its history.
As a bonus, free professional headshots from Tara Kenji Photography will be offered upstairs. Attendees are encouraged to bring several copies of their resume and dress to impress — some employers conduct interviews on the spot.
