This past weekend, Red Frog Events LLC called the warriors to come out and play, inviting more than 23,000 people from all across Maryland and the East Coast, to attend a 3.11 mile obstacle course and race held at Budds Creek. Red Frog Events, an active entertainment company founded by Joe Reynolds hosts a number of events similar to the Warrior Dash including the Great Urban Race, and Beach Palooza. The Warrior Dash started in 2009 in the Mideast and has grown in the last years into the international level.
The Warrior Dash is not the only one of its kind. Recently, extreme race/obstacle courses have been growing in popularity. The Tough Mudder, a race almost 3 times as long as the warrior dash, is designed and endorsed by the British Special Forces. Other races similar to the Warrior Dash, include, the Rebel Race, Tree Top Adventure Course, The Spartan Races, and the Tough Mudder. These races are all billed to the same demographic, and in the same way, “Are you a warrior?” “Are you tough enough” “Can you handle this extreme race” and most commonly, a variation of “Are you looking for an adventure?”
Adventure seekers of southern Maryland need only wait, this is not the last time your will see the Warrior Dash, or the other extreme sports listed above.
