UPDATE – July 22, 2024 – Investigation Reveals Motorcycle Speeding At 164 MPH Before Fatal Crash In Hollywood
UPDATE – April 19, 2024 – The child passenger in the SUV who was flown to Children’s Hospital has succumbed to her injuries.
Upon arrival, deputies determined that a 2006 Yamaha Motorcycle had collided with a 2008 Hyundai Sonata. The initial investigation determined that the motorcycle, driven by Tiernan Anthony Stephenson, 21, of Waldorf, MD, was traveling north on Three Notch Road when the Hyundai, driven by Stephanie Rose Robey, 36, of Hollywood, MD, pulled into the path of the motorcycle while attempting to cross the road from Tom Hodges Drive.
Mr. Tiernan struck the driver’s side back door, was ejected from the motorcycle, and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle was transported to MedStar Washington Hospital Center, and a juvenile passenger in the SUV was transported via Maryland State Police Aviation Trooper 7 to Children’s Hospital and remains in critical condition.
The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Reconstruction Unit has assumed the investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or any events leading up to it and who has not already provided a statement is asked to contact Corporal Rachael Roszell at 301-475-4200, ext. 8108, or by email at Rachael.Roszell@stmaryscountymd.gov.

Another motorcycle driver murdered by a car driver with poor judgment.
You should hold your judgement on that until further information is given. A friend witnessed the motorcycle go by his property. He is guessing that the biker was traveling well over 100 mph. Let’s just wait to here more.
You must have meant “child murdered by a motorcycle driver with poor judgement”.
Exactly!
👍🏼
I don’t understand why someone would say something like that to someone mourning the loss of their seven year old daughter.
That bike was flying!!
Speeding or not, you still yield to on coming traffic.
IF the bike was speeding, it was most likely weaving in and out of traffic. If it wasn’t there when the driver of the car looked, it shouldnt be the fault of the car. I’m tired of speeders getting off due to a technicality. Let’s not forget that he also caused serious damage and it sounds like almost killed a 5 year old due to his reckless actions. IF he was speeding and acting in a reckless manner.
That car was at fault!!
That is not necessarily true. It is hard to make a proper judgement on a vehicle that is going twice the speed limit. He went by me like a blur on the road that day. Traveling at least 100+ mph.
Nope, it’s the motorcyclist’s fault.
You cannot judge how fast a bike is traveling especially when they were most likely doing 100
I knew it was going to be the car’s fault, that’s a dangerous intersection how did she not she the biker…may he rest in peace
How did she not. She did see it. But, it is very hard to judge the closing distance on an object traveling at double the posted speed. He went flying by me like I was sitting still. And, I was traveling at 65 mph.
How is the intersection dangerous? Lemmie guess, we need another traffic light?
Preach on. There are roughly 20 traffic lights from Leonardtown to the California/LP area depending on which route you take. Enough is enough!
No there needs to be more, along with red light running cameras and speed cameras every 1/8 mile, you people drive like absolute maniacs and it gets worse every single day!
Maniacs won’t and currently don’t abide by the traffic devices. Why would another traffic light help?
Because with red light cameras and speed cameras they can either obey the traffic laws or go broke ignoring them
So how will ANOTHER light help? Stop with the insanity.
Learn to read farva, you can either obey traffic control devices or go broke
Speed cameras and red light cameras reduce traffic accidents by 75 percent, it’s all public information
Speed cameras are needed every 660 feet here on every road because of the way you people insist on driving, it’s the only way it’s going to get better
Sonata? Was it a Hyundai Santa fe?
That doesn’t look like a Hyundai Sonata. It looks like an SUV.
Riding a motorcycle is very enjoyable, I couldn’t imagine riding one post ’90s now that everyone is distracted by technology and aggressively rude on the highway.
Drivers are rude and distracted? Every time I see a motorcycle on the road they think they have all of the power and are invisible. They are always flying by, swerving in and out of traffic, doing stunts, and are dangerous. Ride on back roads if you want to act like a fool.
100 percent facts!!!
100 percent lies!!!
Then you don’t use the roads here
Absolutely!!!! And Everytime there’s a motorcycle accident, people always coming out talking about “watch for motorcyclists”. How about they watch for us too and not out OUR lives in danger because they feel invincibility. Now w child is dead BECAUSE he out there trying to be cool. FOH
8 comments so far and no one mentioned the child .
This child needs our prayers , prayers do help no matter how things turn out .
Secondly , we all see it daily: distracted driving , sliding through stop signs , failing to stop at stop signs ,,,If you are doing any of the aforementioned items YOU Are a careless irresponsible driver .. YOU may be responsible for the negligent death of someone else …! PAY ATTENTION STOP SIGNS ARE NOT SUGGESTIONS !
God rest his soul .
Finally, someone has said it. Our community is grieving a great loss, we shouldn’t be arguing over who’s right and who’s wrong! Both parties experienced a great loss, isn’t that enough?
you all are sad. a young man is deceased and a woman and a child are fighting for their lives. let the investigators do their job! and decide who was at fault foe speeding or pulling out to soon. because no one else know who saw who or what…….. show peace and human decency to others.
Has no one noticed that the people (including a child) in the SUV had to be taken to the hospital??? How fast was that motorcycle going if the people in the SUV are in critical condition. Yes the SUV was supposed to yield but lets not act like the motorcycle wasn’t speeding
If you have never been in an accident I can tell you it is so fast and sudden and unintentional. That is why they are accidents. Does it matter who is at fault? Someone died and two others are fighting for their lives in hospitals. If you drive a car or a motorcycle you take a chance of getting into to an accident every time you start the engine. Prayers for every family involved in this.
My point exactly! 21 year old on a sports bike, that dude was flying
You have no way of knowing if the motorcyclist was speeding.
Literally, read the article, both occupants in the suv are in critical condition and had to be flown out
Common sense goes a long way
Yes you do. Several witnesses have come foreward stating they saw the motorcycle . If I’m doing 60 mph and the motorcycle “flys by me “, it’s a given, he’s going faster then 60, right ?
I’m sure the bike was going way to fast. As they always are especially out there in MD.
Prayers for both parties
Hope we see the results of what the investigators find. Have seen bad drivers of cars, motorcycles, big trucks distracted driving etc. Let the chips fall where the FACTS of the investigation put them. Prayers for all.
Bet he looked cool doing though. In all seriousness people under 40 should require a psych eval before turning them loose on the streets with a bike. Speed kills all by itself and you’re sharing the road with the lowest common denominators of society. It’s a recipe for disaster.
It amazes me that there are those on here acting like anyone reading this is going to change their driving just because of the comments. You may as well spit into the wind! I am quite sure of the reason they are called ACCIDENTS! My heart breaks for the 2 lost lives; especially such young lives. Sending (((((HUGGGS))))) and prayers to all affected by this tragedy.
So your comment “lowest common denominators of society” is directed at motorcyclists? Not really understanding this comment and its relevance at all. Why do you consider motorcyclists to be the lowest common denominator?
Sport bikes should be banned from public roadways, riders have zero respect for them
Sad. We need to see the SMCSO Reconstruction Unit report printed here.
This is tragic
Agreed. The final SMCSO Reconstruction report should be made public .This is one where alot of persons are in disagreement of the facts and fault in this accident , likely both drivers were at fault .
Point blank it was an Accident and it was very very tragic. Everyone on here is quick to judge until they have an Accident their selves. How about everyone just pray for the people that lost somebody they love.
