On October 10th, St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office reports that Deputy Milton Pesante was patrolling in the area of Point Lookout Road in Leonardtown when he observed a vehicle crossing over the center line several times.
Deputy Pesante conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and identified the driver as James Darryl Douglas, age 42 years of Mechanicsville. An odor of alcoholic beverage was detected by Deputy Pesante during conversation with Douglas.
Suspect Douglas was administered standardized field sobriety tests which he failed. Douglas was then transported to the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office where he was charged with Driving Under the Influence, and is currently awaiting a Preliminary Inquiry Hearing.
