LA PLATA, Md. — Fifty-one new townhomes are officially coming to the Parklands neighborhood after the Charles County Planning Commission approved the final site development plan at its meeting on Dec. 15, 2025.
The project spans 32.74 acres in Neighborhood 4 of the Village of Wooded Glen, part of the St. Charles Planned Unit Development. This phase of the Parklands neighborhood includes 51 townhomes designed with the layout and features of single-family homes. Each unit will be 28 feet wide, include a two-car garage, and offer driveway parking. This phase is part of the larger Parklands neighborhood, which will include a total of 1,001 residential units when fully built out.
The project was initially reviewed and approved as a preliminary subdivision plan (PLREV-250002) on Dec. 1, 2025. The original master plan for the area (PSP-190001) received Planning Commission approval on Nov. 4, 2019.
The Dec. 15 public meeting included a presentation by Tetchiana Anderson, Planner III with Charles County’s Planning Division. She outlined how the project fits within the Villages of Wooded Glen and Piney Reach Master Plan and complies with all zoning, environmental, and design standards.

Future connections to MD Route 488 are planned through Everglades Drive, with a traffic signal study to be conducted when that intersection opens.
The project is supported by a Habitat Protection Plan, a Tier 2 environmental review, and a letter of approval from the Maryland Department of Natural Resources. The developer is taking additional steps to protect the natural environment, including avoiding sensitive areas such as wetlands and floodplains, incorporating planted stormwater management features, and voluntarily preserving forested areas on-site.
After discussion, the Planning Commission unanimously approved the application, with the standard condition that all local, state, and federal regulations must continue to be followed.

Vote them ALL out next year or you’ll never be able to drive through the county! They won’t stop building, and they’ll keep putting in more traffic lights to bring traffic to a stop everywhere! VOTE THEM ALL OUT!!!
Agreed, their only interest is to increase the base which adds to their power and allows them more money to piss away. You’d think they would’ve had some plans to address the endless congestion before they made this mess, but greed comes first with them
