55-Year-Old Man Airlifted With Severe Burns From Gasoline Fire In St. Inigoes

ST. INIGOES, Md. – On July 15, 2024, at approximately 5:51 p.m., emergency personnel responded to a possible fire explosion in the 17000 block of Mt. Zion Church Road in St. Inigoes. 

Crews arrived on the scene where they found a 55-year-old man with 50% burns on his face and 40-50% on his body. A MEDEVAC was requested immediately for the burn victim. An active fire was found upon arrival and was extinguished quickly by firefighters. 

A gasoline fire reportedly blew back on the victim and the flames engulfed causing severe burns.  

Firefighters secured a landing zone for Maryland State Police, Trooper 7 at Chisleytown Road and Point Lookout Road. The burn victim was then flown to the Burn Center at Johns Hopkins Bayview for treatment.
