CLEMENTS, Md. — A woman was airlifted to a regional trauma center Thursday evening after falling from a horse and sustaining a head injury.

St. Mary’s County fire and rescue personnel responded around 6:05 p.m. on February 27, 2025, to the 23000 block of Mount Chance Farm Lane, where they found the woman with a head injury and significant damage to her helmet, emergency officials said.

Given the severity of the injuries, emergency medical services requested a Maryland State Police helicopter for medical evacuation, estimating a 25-minute arrival time. Crews assessed the woman at the scene before transporting her to a designated landing zone at Dynard Elementary School.

Maryland State Police Trooper 2 helicopter arrived and airlifted the patient to the University of Maryland Capital Regional Medical Center for further treatment.
