PINEY POINT, Md. — Pamela Lynn Leonard, 57, of Lexington Park, is facing new drug charges after a traffic stop on July 30, 2025, led to her arrest on an outstanding warrant and the discovery of crack cocaine. According to the statement of probable cause, during the incident, Leonard made a request to officers, asking if she could smoke the crack cocaine found in her possession before being taken to jail.

The incident began when a St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office sergeant conducted a traffic stop on a speeding 2016 Chevrolet Impala in the area of Piney Point Road and St. Georges Avenue. An assisting deputy identified the front seat passenger as Leonard through prior law enforcement interactions and a recent mugshot photograph. A records check revealed that Leonard had an active arrest warrant through a neighboring jurisdiction.

Leonard was arrested on the outstanding warrant. A search of her bag yielded a burnt glass smoking device and a small blue plastic bag containing a white, rock-like substance that, through training and experience, an officer identified as crack cocaine. According to the documents, Leonard observed the search and “requested she be allowed to smoke the crack cocaine before being taken to jail due to the time she was going to be serving.” She was subsequently transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center without incident.

This latest arrest adds to Leonard’s growing legal troubles, which include a previous arrest in May of this year where she was also found with cocaine and paraphernalia. She is also currently navigating a separate, active case in Calvert County Circuit Court, for which a bench warrant was served on Aug. 1, 2025. That case, stemming from an incident in January 2025, includes felony charges of CDS: Distribution of Narcotics and Possession With Intent to Distribute Narcotics. Court records show Leonard has failed to appear for court multiple times in that case, with bench warrants previously issued by Judge Mark S. Chandlee and Judge Mark W. Carmean.

For the July 30 incident, Leonard is charged with CDS: Possess–Not Cannabis and CDS: Possess Paraphernalia. Under Maryland law, the possession charge is a misdemeanor carrying a potential penalty of up to one year in jail and a $5,000 fine, while possession of paraphernalia carries a maximum fine of $500. Court records show she was released on a $1,000 unsecured personal bond for these charges, with a trial scheduled for Sept. 15, 2025, in St. Mary’s District Court.
