WALDORF, Md. — Two people were seriously injured Saturday evening after a two-vehicle crash sparked a car fire along a busy stretch of roadway in Waldorf.
The crash occurred Jan. 17, 2026, shortly before 7 p.m. at the intersection of Post Office Road and St. Charles Parkway, where callers reported a severe collision involving multiple vehicles. Witnesses told dispatchers that at least one car was fully engulfed in flames, with uncertainty about whether anyone was trapped inside.
First responders arriving on scene found a vehicle burning intensely near the parkway. Due to the heat and fire conditions, crews initially were unable to approach the vehicle. Firefighters later confirmed two burn victims at the scene.

The incident was upgraded to a working fire as additional units responded, including rescue squads, command staff, and aviation resources. A medical helicopter was requested, and Maryland State Police Trooper 7 ultimately airlifted one patient to MedStar Washington Hospital Center with serious injuries.
Another patient was transported by ambulance to UM Charles Regional Medical Center.
Road crews were also requested to respond with sand to address hazardous conditions caused by fire debris and fluids on the roadway. Portions of St. Charles Parkway were impacted during the emergency response.
The crash remains under investigation.
