LEXINGTON PARK, Md. — Security camera footage from an apartment complex off Great Mills Road in Lexington Park has led to burglary and theft charges against a man, according to authorities.
According to the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded Jan. 16, 2026, to a reported burglary at an apartment complex located off Great Mills Road. The victims told deputies they had briefly left the residence to walk their dog when an unknown male allegedly entered the apartment and removed items from a nightstand.
Court records show the victims reported they had previously installed interior cameras due to unexplained missing property. Deputies reviewed the surveillance footage, which showed one of the residents leaving the apartment with a dog. Shortly after, a tall white male wearing a tan hat, face mask, black shirt and dark-colored sweatpants was seen entering the residence through the front door.
Authorities canvassed the surrounding area with a still image captured from the video footage. During the canvass, a witness identified the individual in the image as Christopher Lee Blackburn, 40. The witness also stated Blackburn allegedly hangs out around the area regularly.
Investigators reported that Motor Vehicle Administration records did not contain a photograph of Blackburn. However, police were able to obtain prior law enforcement footage from an earlier traffic stop. After comparing that footage with the surveillance image and obtaining an identification from a witness, authorities issued a criminal summons for Blackburn.
Blackburn has been charged with third-degree burglary, two counts of fourth-degree burglary and theft less than $100. A summons was issued Feb. 13, 2026. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 27, 2026. Authorities have not publicly specified Blackburn’s current whereabouts.
Under Maryland law, third-degree burglary is a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison. Fourth-degree burglary carries a maximum penalty of up to three years of incarceration per count and potential fines. Theft of property valued under $100 is generally punishable by up to 90 days in jail and fines.
