Cecelia Margaret Oliver, of Mechanicsville, Maryland, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2026, at the age of 96.

Born on December 8, 1929, in Wayside, Maryland, Cecelia (known as “Tinkie”) was the daughter of the late John Albert Maddox and Mary Louise Maddox. She was one of twelve children, growing up alongside six brothers and five sisters in a close-knit family that remained important to her throughout her life.

On April 2, 1947, Cecelia married the love of her life, John E. Oliver, Sr., in La Plata, Maryland. Together, they built a life defined by enduring love, steadfast partnership, and devotion to family.

Cecelia enjoyed a long and successful career as Head Bookkeeper at Firearms International in Indian Head, Maryland. Through the years, the company underwent several name changes before becoming Beretta USA. Her dedication, professionalism, and strong work ethic earned the respect of colleagues and friends alike. She retired in 1993 after many years of faithful service.

Outside of work, Cecelia found joy in many pursuits. She loved dancing, gardening, reading, and sewing, and she was always busy with a variety of hobbies and projects. She took great pride in her home and family and was happiest when surrounded by those she loved.

Cecelia is survived by her daughter, Dana Hensley (David) of Mechanicsville, Maryland; her son, John E. Oliver, Jr. of La Plata, Maryland; her grandchildren, Justin Hensley (Jokkie), Lyndsey Heppe (Scott), Alex Oliver, Brent Oliver, and McKenzie Oliver; and her great-grandson, Benjamin Heppe. She is also survived by her sister, Peggy Trollinger; her sister-in-law, Sheila Maddox; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Oliver, Sr., and ten of her brothers and sisters.

Cecelia will be remembered for her kindness, strength, dedication to her family, and the love she shared with all who knew her. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched throughout her years.
