CALIFORNIA, Md. — Maryland State Police arrested and charged a juvenile in connection to a shots-fired incident in St. Mary’s County in July.
The juvenile, a 17-year-old male from Lexington Park, Maryland, was taken into custody on Monday without incident. He was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center, where he is awaiting a commissioner’s review.
On Monday, July 27, 2026, at approximately 1:30 a.m., troopers from the Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack responded to a recreation center located at 23000 block of Wildewood Drive for a report of an assault and shots fired. Troopers from the Maryland State Police Criminal Enforcement Division responded to the scene. Information gleaned during the investigation led to the identification of the juvenile.
On August 10, investigators from the Maryland State Police Criminal Enforcement Division – South, with assistance from the Maryland State Apprehension Team, troopers from the Leonardtown Barrack, the Special Operations Division, and deputies from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office, executed a search warrant at the juvenile’s residence. Investigators seized multiple items, including a loaded Glock 23 handgun, several rounds of live ammunition, and firearm accessories.
