LUSBY, Md. — Emergency crews are responding to a serious medical incident involving a reported self-inflicted gunshot wound Thursday afternoon in Lusby.
The incident was reported around 2:45 p.m. Sept. 3, 2026, in the 11900 block of Mill Bridge Road.
Initial emergency communications indicate a 38-year-old man suffered a single gunshot wound to the abdomen. The injury was reported on the right side, with no exit wound observed.
The patient was reportedly conscious, breathing and alert, but responders were advised that he was experiencing serious bleeding.
The incident was classified as a Priority 1 medical call, and a medical helicopter was requested for the patient.
Initial reports described the gunshot wound as intentionally self-inflicted. The circumstances surrounding the incident have not yet been independently confirmed.
Emergency personnel remain on the scene.
