Chesapeake Beach, MD – As the temperature rises so does the level of excitement in Southern Maryland with an array of great, live talent headed for the area this summer. Chesapeake Beach Resort and Spa is one of the more active venues, with several big-name acts and big-name act tribute bands booked through early September. The list of performers covers virtually every music genre.

We give them variety,โ€ said Chesapeake Beach Resort and Spa Entertainment Director Murphy Smilardo. The โ€œRock the Dockโ€ live music events take place on the Chesapeake Bay at the resort and spaโ€™s iconic band shell. Smilardo told TheBayNet.com he had been busy during the winter months getting the acts lined up and still might have some additions to the billboard.

Among the headlines booked for shows this season are country/bluegrass legend Ricky Skaggs, Thursday, June 22; The Spinners, Saturday, July 15; The Gin Blossoms, Tuesday, July 25; The Four Tops, Tuesday, Aug. 1; Spin Doctors, Wednesday, Aug. 2; Harold Melvinโ€™s Blue Notes, Sunday, Aug. 6; and The Commodores, Tuesday, Aug. 15. Smilardo predicted The Commodores show could be the biggest event of the season. The weekday shows start at 7 p.m. while the Sunday performance of Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes starts at 5.

The tribute artists on the Rock the Dock schedule include two back-to-back performances by the popular Eagles trib-group, The Long Run. Their shows are scheduled for Wednesday, July 26 and Thursday, July 27. Other tribute acts include: Pandoraโ€™s Box (Aerosmith), Thursday, June 8; The English Channel (Beatles), Thursday, June 15; The Earth, Wind and Fire Tribute Band, Sunday, June 25, 4 p.m.; Zoso (Led Zeppelin), Thursday, June 29; Johnny Seaton (An Elvis Tribute), Monday, July 3, 5 p.m.; The Deloreans, an 80s Tribute Band, Thursday, July 13; Caribbean Chillers (Jimmy Buffet), Thursday, July 20; Bruce in the USA (Bruce Springsteen), Thursday, Aug. 3; Second Hand News (Fleetwood Mac), Thursday, Aug. 10; Technicolor Motor Home (Steely Dan), Thursday, Aug. 17; The Bird Dogs Band as the Everly Brothers Experience, Thursday, Aug. 24; and High Voltage (AC/DC), Thursday, Aug. 31.

Among the acts booked for June are Hard Swimminโ€™ Fish, a blues group from Frederick, Sunday, June 11; Southern rockers Jim Quick and Coastline, Wednesday, June 14; and soul group Jimi Smooth and Hit Time, Sunday, June 18. Washington, DC Metro Area favorites The No Where Men will be back this summer at Rock the Dock for shows on Sunday, July 9; Sunday, Aug. 20; and Sunday Sept. 3.

While these shows have admission charges, Chesapeake Beach Resort and Spa also has free shows on Fridays and Saturday. DJ Big T will be playing favorites Fridays from 6 to 10 p.m. while Saturday nights will feature either the 2 4 U Band, John Luskey or Chip Andi from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m.

The season wraps up Monday, Labor Day, Sept. 4 with The Eli Young Band performing from 5 to 7:30 p.m.
