Waldorf, MD โย State investigators reported a house in Charles County sustained heavy damage in an early-morning fire Tuesday, Aug. 4.
According to the Maryland State Fire Marshalโs Office, the blaze occurred on Kanegis Drive in Waldorf and was reported at 1:26 a.m. No injuries were reported.
โA fire inside the home was discovered by neighbors across the street and they called 911,โ Dfm. Don Brenneman stated. โFirst fire department units on the scene were able to extinguish the fire but not before substantial damage was done. The investigation into the cause continues.โ
Brenneman identified the owners as Charles Hall and Doreen McCallister. Both were reportedly at work when the blaze occurred.
Forty-two firefighters from Waldorf, Accokeek, La Plata, Bryans Road, Potomac Heights and Fort Washington were dispatched to the scene of the one-alarm fire and brought the flames under control in 30 minutes.
The fire originated in the houseโs front foyer. In addition to Brenneman, the blaze was investigated by Dcfm. Duane Svites, a Prince Georgeโs County K-9 unit and the Charles County Sheriffโs Office.
Damage to the house is estimated at $355,000.
The displaced residents are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
