Waldorf, MD – A one-alarm fire Wednesday, March 21 at a two-story Charles County home has displaced a family, state investigators reported. According to the Maryland State Fire Marshalโs Office, no injuries were reported during the blaze, which did approximately $203,000 worth of damage to the house on Elgin Court in Waldorf.
The fire was discovered by the homeโs occupants, who notified authorities at approximately 6:37 p.m.
โEmbers from an outdoor fire pit ignited combustibles under the house,โ a deputy fire marshal reported. A smoke alarm in the residence failed to alert the occupants.
Thirty firefighters responded to the blaze and brought the flames under control in 20 minutes.
According to the Maryland State Fire Marshalโs Office, the home is owned by Stephen and Jennifer Hardeman. The residents are being assisted by friends.

Waldorf, MD – At approximately 6 p.m. Wednesday evening, March 21, crews from Charles County volunteer companies were dispatched to a house fire on Elgin Court. Reports from the scene indicated fire was coming through the roof of the structure. According to the Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department, there were no injuries as a result of the fire. The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office will investigate the blaze and a report is pending.
