Kirby installed as Leonardtown’s King Lion

The Installation of Officers for the Leonardtown Lions Club was held at the Olde Breton Inn in Leonardtown on May 7. At the event the new King Lion, George Kirby, was sworn in. Lion Kirby was born in Cumberland, MD and is a graduate of Frostburg State College.

Kirby was a math teacher and middle school principal in the St. Mary’s County Public Schools (SMCPS) until his retirement in 1997; he continues his education career as a substitute SMCPS teacher.

Lions 1^st Vice-District Governor Kelley Randolph of Camp Springs and a member of the South Gate-Clinton Lions Club officiated at the ceremony.
