On Dec. 21, Cpl. D. Mills stopped Blake Sumner Dotson, 21 of Mechanicsville, for operating a motor vehicle with suspended registration plates. Darren Robert McCauley, Jr., 20 of Mechanicsville was a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the traffic stop. As Mills was speaking with Dotson he detected an odor of burnt marijuana emitting from the vehicle. A probable cause search of the vehicle revealed suspected marijuana and controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia. Dotson and McCauley were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia.
