According to a press release from the office of Maryland Governor Martin OโMalley [D], two new judges for Calvert County courts were appointed Thursday, Sept. 19.
Mark Stephen Chandleeย has been appointed to the circuit court bench while Michelle Renee Saunders was appointed as a district court judge.ย
According to the governorโs office, Chandlee has been in private practice since 1992 and a partner in the firm Zoglio and Chandlee, LLC since 2006.ย Earlier in his career, Chandlee spent three years as an assistant stateโs attorney for Prince Georgeโs County, where he prosecuted cases in the Narcotics Unit and later in the Major Crimes Unit. Chandlee received a law degree from the University of Baltimore School of Law and a bachelor of science degree from Frostburg State College.
Saunders has served the majority of her career as a prosecutor in the Calvert County Stateโs Attorneyโs Office, where she currently is chief of the District Court Division. She also has two years of experience in private practice as a partner in the law firm Lamson and Saunders. Saunders is an active member of the Calvert County Bar Association, having formerly served as president and as a member of the board of directors. She received a juris doctor from Georgetown University Law Center and earned her undergraduate degree from High Point College.
All of the newly appointed judges were recommended to OโMalley by the local trial court judicial nominating commissions.ย ย
