As Hurricane Sandy continues to move away her effects continue to be felt throughout the county.
Currently sustained winds are registering at 15 mph with gusts at 21 mph. A wind advisory will continue through 2 pm this afternoon. A coastal flood warning continues through tonight.
As conditions continue to improve county emergency managers continue to manage the response to the storm. The emergency operations center is scheduled to demobilize at 4 p.m. this afternoon.
The shelters at Great Mills High School, Leonardtown High School and the pet shelter at the county fairgrounds are closed.
All St. Maryโs County Government offices will be open on Wednesday, October 31.
The Governor Thomas Johnson Bridge is open and operating normally however a wind warning remains in place.
The State Highway Administration wants to remind drivers to treat intersections with flashing signals or no power as a four way stop.
SMECO is currently reporting 2,200 outages across St. Maryโs County.
The Metropolitan Commission (MetCom) is reminding customers that properties equipped with a sewage grinder pup that have experienced a power outage, the grinder pump alarm will likely activate once power has been restored. If this occurs and the alarm continues to sound for more than 30 minutes, please call MetComโs 24-hour response line at 301-373-5305.
