Huntingtown, MD – An early morning fire that totally destroyed an abandoned single-family dwelling in Calvert County remains under investigation, state authorities reported.
According to the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office, the blaze was reported Monday, April 4 around 4:30 a.m. on Wilson Road in Huntingtown. Ten firefighters brought the flames under control in 30 minutes. There were no injuries, and the estimated loss was $5,000.
“A passerby reported a possible brush fire in the area of Dunn Road and Wilson Road,” a fire marshal’s report stated. “Upon arrival of the fire department, it was discovered that an abandoned house had been completely burned.”
The owner of the 15-foot-by 20-foot structure was identified as Margaret Goldstein.
